As part of the SETatWork project, a stand was taken at the Bright Green Exhibition. Bright Green was organised by the Confederation of Danish Industry and took place in Copenhagen on 12-13 December 2009 in connection with the climate conference COP15.

The aim of the SETatWork intervention at Bright Green was to establish contacts between actors on the carbon markets, through match-making events and dissemination of information about:

• SETatWork's activities
• EU ETS projects and energy efficiency training in Europe
• CDM in Asia, South America and Africa
• Sustainable Energy Technology and service providers

T@W arranged a workshop and partner matching event on 10 March 2008 in connection with Carbon Market Insights (CMI), an annual event for the Carbon Markets, which takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark from 11-13 March 2008.

The T@W workshop covered the latest and most relevant issues regarding the development of carbon markets and the possibilities for technology transfer. Speakers from the European Commission, Danish Confederation of Industries and European Investment Bank took part, as well as speakers presenting their experience from CDM projects in China, Thailand and Malaysia.

In the framework of SETatWork Project, Sofia Energy Centre organized a matchmaking event on European Emission Trading Scheme in Bulgaria - Opportunities and Challenges. The event was held on 14 April 2010 in Sofia as a Parallel Session at 6th National Congress and Exhibition for South-East Europe, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources. Simultanoulsy an exhibition of main energy saving and renewable energy technolgies took place, where more than 50 compnaies from all over Europe, China and USA presented their activities and opprotunities for emission saving technologies, projects and initiatives.

In the framework of SETatWork Project, Sofia Energy Centre organized a matchmaking event on European Emission Trading Scheme – History and Perspective in Bulgaria. The event was held on 3 June 2010 in Sofia in parallel to the International Ecoforum Save Energy, Save Water, Save the Planet with the main aim to bring forward the technology transfer from Europe to Bulgaria in regard to environment protection. It gave the opportunity for direct contact with professionals and investors from Europe receiving specific information on the status and market trends in Bulgaria and Europe and realising trade and technical cooperation.

SETatWork Matchmaking Events were held in Guangzhou on 19 April 2010 and in Hangzhou on 21 April 2010.

The main objective of these events was to create a platform for close interaction between:

1. CDM project developers in China,
2. sellers and buyers of carbon credits,
3. Sustainable Energy Technology providers and
4. Industries in EU-ETS

by highlighting the technologies needed and the technologies available in developed countries to promote energy efficiency in China by facilitating Business to Business (B2B) meetings.

A central and unified platform for Power, Oil, Gas, Coal, and Emissions Trading in the regions of Central and South Eastern Europe is currently being established. The Energy and Climate event in Roskilde was organized jointly by the industry network initiative Zero Carbon Network and the SETatWork project, represented by Energy Consulting Network.

Zero Carbon Network is an initiative for encouraging companies in the Zealand area to undertake energy and climate measures. There are 25 company members in the network committed to take such a path - see: www. zero- carbon.dk

The event attracted around 50 participants, comprising representatives of both the industry and public sector.

The purpose of the event was to:

• Inform about policy initiatives in the energy and climate sector
• Showing Good Practice of company initiatives
• Enlighten the media’s role in the awareness of energy and climate
• Foster discussion of what factors influence policy oriented action and what initiatives could be taken to match actors and interests

Heating and cooling are both major factors influencing energy consumption in companies. In order to prove the energy saving potential of innovative heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems and to offer a marketing platform for technology providers, KEWOG Städtebau GmbH and Chamber of Commerce, Munich, joined forces to organise a matchmaking event with focus on HVAC technologies.

The SETatWork matchmaking event was attended by around 90 participants that could benefit from presentations that portrayed the energy saving potential of intelligent technology like solar cooling, fuel switch or re-cooling of chillers. Seventeen innovative technology providers presented their products and services and were available for personal talks with the companies interested in energy saving heating, ventilation and air-conditioning processes.

ETA Florence - Renewable Energies

The ETS match-making event was organized on behalf of ZeroEmission Expo that took place in Rome from the 8th to the 10th of September 2010.

The key objective was to foster cooperation in the field of CDM projects; by creating contact between local CDM project developers & related business and EU stakeholders like buyers of CO₂ credits and technology suppliers. This will be supplemented with other commercial and RTD activities.

The participants were interested in having contact with the organisations and companies for further business and learning about financing contacts. The event resulted in several contacts of direct interest to SETatWork activities.

It seems that some organisations want to have contact with national and international companies to be able to start working with their climate goals. For this CDM as mechanism is a very interesting financing model for them to be able to afford investing in clean technologies.

The technology focus is on energy efficiency and polygeneration in the industry sectors, but the scope of cooperation can cover broadly in the field of sustainable energy.

The main objectives of this workshops:

• The participants had the opportunity to share experiences and discuss "face-to-face" regarding new business opportunities.
• Identify the opportunities for specific action in the industries for CO₂ reduction measures. This is to be achieved by local partners in coordination with important industry organisations.
• Promote the implementation of innovative and sustainable technologies in companies that participate in EU Emissions Trading System.
• Matching stakeholders involved in energy efficiency and savings in European industry sectors for realization of energy efficiency and saving projects.

After some presentations, all the participants had the opportunity to share experiences, discuss "face-to-face" to facilitate the realisation of the identified opportunities, present original ideas, and search for innovative technologies, projects and know-how, meet potential co-operation partners and promote their business.

The global society is faced with a huge challenge in order to meet the threat given by global warming. The project SETatWork - Sustainable Energy Technologies at Work aims to meet this challenge through the collaboration and partnerships between organisations in EU, Asia and South America, supported by the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).

In this context, an EU ETS match-making event was organized as a side event during the 18th European Biomass Conference with the following objectives:

• to promote the implementation of innovative and sustainable technologies in companies that participate in EU Emissions Trading System
• to match stakeholders involved in energy efficiency and savings in European industry sectors for realization of energy efficiency and saving projects

In the final part of the workshop, a "networking cocktail" was organized where participants had the opportunity to share experiences and discuss "face-to-face" regarding new business opportunities.

During this event, the following topics were discussed:

• Changes in the EUETS system after 2012 vs. the volumes of emissions. Targets to be achieved according to the EU directives
• CO₂ markets in post-Kyoto period and energy efficiency in practice
• Shape and size of the CO₂ market. Simulations of emission allowances price formation till 2012 and prognosis of market behaviour after 2012
• Possibilities arising from the GHG market – examples of actions
• Shape and size of the CO₂ market. Simulations of emission allowances price formation till 2012 and prognosis of market behaviour after 2012
• Legal aspects of the CO₂ emission trading. How to prepare contracts, negotiate deals

Scope: Power plants, heat plants and other utilities have obsolete technological bases caused mainly by insufficient degree of cogeneration with inadequate emissions of carbon dioxide. Latest most-advanced technological improvements shall be presented.
Target Audience: Higher and medium-rank management of steel-, crude-oil-processing, paper-making-, cement-, chemical-, car-manufacturing-, wood-processing-, glass-, civil industries as well as representatives of manufacturers of energy generating machinery and equipment, financing institutions managers, applied science & university experts.

Background: The Matchmaking will be held together with a Training event within International scientific event Power Engineering 2010 (ENERGETIKA 2010) which includes three international scientific conferences: Energy - Ecology - Economy 2010, Control of Power Systems 2010, Renewable Energy Sources 2010

The International Slovak Biomass Forum event is traditionally an opportunity for all relevant stakeholders in biomass business to share their visions, ideas, needs, problems and solutions.

The Energy Centre Bratislava as organizer of this international conference and at the same time member of the SETatWork project consortium utilized the participation of technology providers at one side and their potential clients (especially from industries and municipalities) at other side for mutual benefit of both sides as well as for benefit of the project.

This was done through organization of standalone SETatWork Parallel session Biomass - instrument for reduction of CO₂ emissions. This session was organized as matchmaking meeting.

The SETatWork project team in Bangkok – the Centre for Energy Environment Resources Development (CEERD) – and its other project partners, organised a Facilitation Workshop on 18 and 19 February 2010, at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), as a side-event “Energy Saving 2010” Exhibition and Conference. The workshop was co-sponsored by the Thai DNA, the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO).

The event combined two days (with 70 participants each) with the theme of “Energy Efficiency and Conservation” (18 February) and “Renewable Energy and Cogeneration” (19 February).

The main objectives of the Facilitation Workshops were:

1. to present best available technologies for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and the opportunities for CERs sales to European entities;
2. to present to project owners how the CDM cycle can help finance projects and technologies; and
3. to facilitate business to business meetings (B2B) between Companies, Project owners, Project developers, Technology suppliers and Financing institutions from Europe and South East Asia.

The B2B meetings took place in the afternoon, at the SETatWork booth (50 sqm in the Exhibition Hall) which was opened to business visitors to the exhibition.
