Beihe II SHP will increase the ratio of clean energy within the Zhejiang province energy mix and contribute to the reduction of reliance on antiquated and highly polluting thermal plants. While the province has a relatively diverse energy mix including hydro, wind, energy from waste disposal, and nuclear, the bulk of the electricity is generated by coal and to a lesser extent by oil.
