Germany - Company Emission Trade Data
The carbon dioxide emissions of each plant participating in the emission trade in Germany (German) for the year 2006 are now open to the public. The analysis shows an overlap of emissions allowances in 2006.
More than 20 Million tons of allowances were distributed but not “used” - and that despite a slight rise in total emissions of 0.8% in comparison to the previous year. With 2/3 of all plants and approximately 80% of the total emission allowance, the energy industry is the largest participant in the German emission trade. The remainder is allocated to the emission-intensive industry. While the assigned allowances sufficed for 68% of the power plants in the trade year 2006, the remaining 38% emitted more than planned, 25 million tons in total. The German Bundestag is at present working on the development of the emission trade for the period of 2008 to 2012.
