CDM Bazaar
The UNFCCC CDM Bazaar is a Web-based facility which serves as a platform for exchange of information on Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project opportunities.
The CDM Executive Board, at its 21st meeting, in discussing work on the registration of CDM project activities and related issues as part of the CDM Management Plan, decided to “Make publicly available relevant information, submitted to it for this purpose, on proposed CDM project activities in need of funding and on investors seeking opportunities, in order to assist in arranging funding of CDM project activities, as necessary”.
In response to this mandate, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat and the UNEP Risoe Centre on Energy, Climate and Sustainable Development (URC) have launched and manage the UNFCCC CDM Bazaar.

IMPROVES-RE - Improving Economic and Social impact of Rural Electrification
The Intelligent Energy - Europe Programme (IEE) of the European Commission supports the development of actions for the effective use of energy and the use of renewable energies. With a balance between security of energy supply, competitiveness and environmental protection, it seeks to direct the requirement for energy towards better controlled consumption.
COOPENER was a field of action of the first IEE programme centered on the co-operation with the developing countries: to reinforce the capacities and the formation in the developing countries in order to support the local policies and energy legislations to fight against poverty and to support development. COOPENER aims at the reinforcement of the local energy expertise in the developing countries, the energy policies, legislations and rates market in order to fight against poverty. In addition, COOPENER projects favoured certain "priorized" areas: sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America.
Improving Economic and Social impact of Rural Electrification (IMPROVES-RE) is a project cofinanced by the European Commission within the framework of COOPENER over the period 2005-2007. It focussed on four countries of West Africa and Centrale: Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Mali and Niger. It was coordinated in Europe by the Innovation Energy Development (IED, France), the ETC Foundation (ETC, Netherlands) and by Risø National Laboratory (RISOE, Denmark). In each African country concerned, IMPROVES-RE profitted from an institutional partnership and from local expertise.
PIN - Project Idea Notes are ongoing and potential CDM and JI projects involving Sustainable Energy Technologies (SETs). The PINs will offer business investment opportunities for EU ETS companies enabling them to offset their emissions by actively increasing the use of SETs.
